Group Rides...

* Everybody can ride without fear of getting dropped
   * The fast people don’t feel held back by the slower ones
   * We don’t scare away novice riders, but encourage them and help them improve

Saturday’s @ Race Pace Owings Mills @ 10am

On Saturday’s we meet at Race Pace in Owings Mills (9930 Reisterstown Rd.) at 10am. Prior to the ride start, it is informally announced which route we take out of town and where we regroup (“pee stop”). See note below on the ride to the regroup/pee stop.

Sunday’s @ TBA

This ride is currently being re-formed. Check back for latest info on leaving location and time.

A note on how ride direction, length and intensity is decided… There is an informal discussion among the senior club riders as to the wind, training goals, time of year, and riders who show up. The riders who make this decision are usually our elite riders who are thinking about harder training—especially in the Spring. While these riders usually set the direction of the ride, it is everyone’s personal responsibility to go around and try to find a group who has the same training goals for that day as you do so that after the regroup/”pee stop” point you can get with that group and do the time/intensity ride you want and not get dropped/lost in N. Baltimore county.

To state again: it is your personal responsibility to find other riders with the same goals as yourself for that day’s training ride—not the elite team members or club officers. The present riders will 1) make a decision and 2) make sure everybody knows.

The ride from the starting point to the regroup is friendly and gives everyone a chance to chat. Nobody gets dropped and the pace is relatively slow—consider this more of a social time than a workout. It usually takes about 1 hour to reach the regroup/”pee stop.” In case of mechanicals, the group might go ahead, but makes sure that everybody is accounted for at the regroup. During this part of the ride you may continue to form groups with others that have the same time/intensity ride goal as you.

Regroup and Afterwards At the pee stop it is your responsibility to get with the group that matches your time/intensity goal for the rest of the ride. The group should break up into sub-groups. It should be an organized split, not a jailbreak.

Some guidelines for the remainder of the ride...

* Stick with the people who are in your sub-group. Don’t drop them. N. Baltimore County can be        confusing. If someone is getting dropped at least check with them to make sure they know how to get back to Race Pace.
* Look out for new-comers. Talk to them. See how strong they are to the regrouping point. Encourage them to find somebody to ride with of equal skill, before the pack splits. Encourage them. If they get left on their own in the country they probably won’t have the best impression of LSV.
* Usually the longer rides are also faster. If you end up in a group that has to wait for you, tell them to go ahead without you and/or find others to drop back with you. Make sure that the group knows you are dropping back.
* Be Courteous. Scold bad behavior. Reinforce good ones.
